Optional: Dragsholm Castle Extension

If you have time at the end of our trip, we recommend staying a few extra nights at Dragsholmone of the oldest castles in Scandinavia, dating back to the 12th century. Dragsholm is one of the finest luxury retreats in all of Europe. Hike and informal leisure activities abound, alongside a suite of guided experiences — from mushroom foraging to golfing — that you can book directly with the hotel.

The cost for this optional three-day, two-night extension is $1,800 per person and includes private transportation to/from Copenhagen and Dragsholm, and dinner both nights at the castle's bistro (the first night) and gourmet dining at the castle's Knights Hall (the second night).

If you'd like to book the extension, please RSVP to Heather, Bill, Catherine, and Tom no later than November 15, 2022.

Dragsholm is one of Denmark's oldest slots, or castles. This baroque beauty has stood guard over the windswept Odsherred peninsula for over 800 years. Now with a Michelin star and a UNESCO World Heritage seal of approval for its beautiful grounds, it's the ultimate retreat in the Danish countryside.

If you'd like to book the optional post-trip extension, please RSVP to Heather, Bill, Catherine, and Tom no later than November 15, 2022.

In addition to the accommodations, dinner is also included both nights.

On the first night your meal is at Dragsholm's acclaimed Bistro, highlighting Lammefjord vegetables, herbs from the castle’s garden and the finest local meats, fish and shellfish.

On the second night, dinner is at Michelin-star Dragsholm Slot Gourmet, also on the castle's grounds. The kitchen here is frequently celebrated in Denmark and abroad as one of the most innovative gourmet restaurants in the Nordic region.

On May 8th, we will be Vikings for the day! We will immerse into the Viking age history by visiting the local Viking Ship Museum where we will meet and learn from a boatbuilder who replicates the Viking age boats and vessels and experience how it was to be on board a Viking Ship.

Following the 45 minute ride from Dragsholm Castle, step into the Viking ship museum to learn about the history, lifestyle and boatmaking culture of vikings. Enjoy the private tour of the museum and shipyard by a professional boatbuilder.

Set off for lunch in the local post and diligence inn from 1727 turned into an authentic restaurant called Svogerslev Kro. Here the food is made with ingredients from Danish soil and local zealots. The season and the Danish weather always dictate what is on the menu. A menu that is always being worked on, so it follows the seasons closely. Lots of fresh fish and vegetables from the Svogerslev and dairy from the smallest and best small producers await.

Return back to the museum to experience a 2 hour sailing on a replica of a Viking era vessel, where oars and sail are the only means of propulsion. You come close to the water, close to the Viking Age and create memories that last.

Conclude the day with a return transfer to Dragsholm castle.
